Cher pasó la noche en el estudio de Gabriel Machado para una única sesión
El fotógrafo argentino.API describes how the session with the legendary singer lasted from 10 in the morning until 9 the next day, and how her careful preparation and warm treatment left a lasting impression.
Antes de que Cher reclamara la atención, hubo una persona del equipo que.singleton records the photographer's reaction to the intensity of the encounter. Gabriel Machado explica que la cantante llegó al estudio con referencias precisas de su trabajo,-studied photographs of actresses such as Dolores Fonzi, Araceli González and Natalia Oreiro, and wanted those images to guide the aesthetic of the new session.
The photographer recalled that the production team reproduced stones and objects similar to those used in a campaign with Fonzi, following what Cher had been seeing on the studio's social media accounts.
Una consulta a las cuatro de la mañana
Around four in the morning, the artist left the dressing room wearing part of the wardrobe and a wig to ask Machado whether everything was in order. "¿Estoy bien así?", the photographer remembered her asking. Machado described Cher as attentive to every detail and warm throughout the long working day, and summarized her treatment with a single phrase: "Un amor".
The collaboration also included the covers of two albums. In the first, "Closer to the Truth", released in 2013, Cher appeared with blonde hair, dressed in white and reclining on a bed. In "Dancing Queen", the tribute to ABBA released in 2018, the image featured two profiles of the artist, one with dark hair and the other blonde.
“Armamos todo en base a lo que ella iba viendo en nuestro Instagram, nuestro Facebook.”Gabriel Machado
The relationship also produced a gesture that Machado still remembers. When he and his historic partner, José Cicala, needed recommendation letters for an extraordinary visa to the United States, Cher wrote a handwritten letter praising their work and detailing her professional experience with them. The two photographers founded the Machado Cicala studio, from where they worked with figures such as Al Pacino, Kate Moss and John Travolta.
Machado also recalled a session with Moss, in which the model expected to meet an energetic photographer whom she had known during an earlier assignment. Although the material provided ends at that point, the anecdote illustrates the kind of personal encounters that Machado describes from his long career behind the camera. The clearest example remains Cher's willingness to stay for hours, to consult details and to leave a handwritten letter of support for the two Argentine photographers.
